Collaborative spaces have become popular among the creative community. The stimulation of an artistic atmosphere induces the flow of creative juices, and with a space like Design Arena, it’s the obvious choice of workspace for most working nomads. Design Arena in San Juan City cradles resources helpful for architects, interior designers, decorators, and artists. It’s a treasure trove of design materials, furniture, and tangible interior design inspiration that also serves as a collaborative space where one can have online collaborations and exclusive pre-arranged meetings.
Each corner of the area has an interior design theme and is equipped with appliances and furniture. Everything in the room can be used freely by customers, and Design Arena also sells particular items inside as partner vendors of the brands. Upon entering the space, you’re greeted by the warm, bright lights in the two kitchen spaces—one has a traditional design complete with potted herbs, retro appliances, painted cabinets, and a quaint island; and the other donning a modern minimalist approach with an island spanning the whole area, floor-to-ceiling wooden cupboards, cabinets with soft-close function underneath the island, and an industrial-style shelf with an exposed metal skeleton where appliances are stored neatly.
A few steps further into the space leads to a cozy living room with Scandinavian touches. The low couch with a sleek, linear wooden frame takes center stage across the wooden modular cabinet. Armchairs with similar designs as the couch flank the petite coffee table in the middle. Behind the living room is a contemporary dining area, with a long wooden table displayed in its heart. It’s surrounded by a mix of structured wooden benches and chairs, and behind them are a mahogany shelf and drawer table.
The corridor of the space is lined with a selection of chairs: mesh, fabric upholstered, premium leather, and multi-seating chairs from Workplace Office Furniture and BASIQ Office Furniture. These can be used by customers to get comfortable while working and also feel the products themselves should they purchase them. A collection of tile samples, color palettes, and even window samples are adjacent to the chairs. These samples can be explored and used for both reference and purchasing.
Down the other end of Design Arena lies a more corporate scenery. An imitation brick wall, hanging lights, and rows of desks mimic an open office space for those who are more comfortable in formal working environments. It features modular office partitions and open type office systems from Workplace Office Furniture, and an extensive collection of chairs, tables, partitions, and cabinets from Silya Mesa Atbp. (SMA).
With quarantine restrictions still in place in Metro Manila, Design Arena is yet to be open to the public. But in the meantime, they are gearing up for the new year where we can hopefully utilize their space and maximize our craft and creativity.
