“Condo living is perfect for us,” shares Kat, the wife, being always on the go. She and her husband Bryan, and their son Iñigo, live in a 54-sqm condo unit, where everything they need is close by, from the couple’s offices or their son’s school. And with Interior Designer Iriss Mangio’s help, their home is made to be a warm, cozy Scandinavian condo in the middle of Eastwood City.
Starkly white, their unit can be mistaken as a Copenhagen abode or a foreign furniture showroom. The couple sought Iriss’ expertise to help them make their first home look and feel special. They sent her photos and pegs of the design they wanted done in the unit.
However, Bryan and Kat’s styles are different. Kat preferred a Parisian design style with a Scandinavian color palette while Bryan liked a more playful, eclectic, and colorful design. So, it was up to Iriss to balance between what both of them wanted. The designer said that although the couple’s styles are different, they still complemented each other.
They went for a pale color scheme for the walls, in most of the furniture and cabinets, and even the backsplash subway tiles in the kitchen. They also incorporated splashes of blue and greenery, and interesting pieces like toy cars to make the unit more modern and young, fit for Bryan and son Iñigo.
To make the 54-sqm unit feel larger, Iriss took down some walls to make an open floor plan layout. This means that the living and dining rooms and the kitchen. Area rugs are used to emphasize each area. Iriss also took a wall down in the couple’s bedroom and made another wall to make room for a mini walk-in behind the bed’s headboard.
Most of the furniture pieces were repainted and re-upholstered to fit the Scandinavian theme. “The dining set is their old one, we just repainted it to make them look new and part of the new design,” shares Iriss. The chair in Kat’s and Bryan’s dual-purpose vanity and mini study is also an old piece revamped to match Kat’s Parisian-meets-Scandinavian pegs.
“We like the theme, it’s very us,” shares the happy clients Scandinavian condo-living in Eastwood City. “The entire unit is [Iñigo’s] playground,” the mom shares on his son. “He always tells us he loves his home.”
