Designing small spaces can be challenging. Creativity is important to come up with a beautiful design concept while meeting the needs of the users. Alexander Tischler designed a 77 square-meter apartment with two bedrooms. The clients also wanted to have a combined kitchen-living room, a home office, and a lot of storage space. They plan to turn the office into a kid’s room in the future.

The blue sofa and chairs adds a pop of color to the monochromatic interior of the apartment.

The apartment features a monochromatic white interior with different textures. For this project, the design team designed and manufactured all the cabinet furniture. Each element is carefully positioned to create a smooth flow within the space while keeping everything functional to maximize the limited space.

Alexander Tischler divided the kitchen in two parts. The first one has floor-to-ceiling column cabinets that have a lot of shelves and contain a built-in refrigerator and a range of appliances. Meanwhile, the second part is a minimalist kitchen set with a sink and a cooktop framed by stoneware pylons with the texture of white onyx. The team also made a chandelier of profile lamps mounted at different heights to illuminate the dining table.

One part of the kitchen features multiple shelves and built in refrigerator.

Moreover, the design team added a volumetric sofa and bright chairs to break the monochrome coloring and strict lines of the kitchen-living room. These elements add a refreshing pop of color to the space.

For the home office, instead of having a fourth wall, the team added a closet which gives the residents more space for storage. The room also has another cabinet in the walk-through dressing zone. They moved the entrance to the home office, as well, to increase the storage space. The entrance became closer to the living room.

The design team added closets to give owners more space for storage.

Additionally, the team installed a shelving unit and hanging desk made of American walnut veneer MDF in the home office. The clients can turn the room into a child’s room in the future by replacing the sofa with a crib. They can also store the things for the baby in the shelving unit and cabinets.

The bedroom has a large closet installed along the wall opposing the bed. But the white fronts can serve as a background for a projector movie night. The design team also put light sources along the ceiling and on the furniture. Meanwhile, the American walnut veneer panels contrast with the light-colored bed headboard, and the lighting brings out the wood texture.

The team converted the hallway into a walk-in dressing area. They also added a washer and a dryer together with a water heater above them. The dressing room area has been expanded at the expense of the home office, so the storage space increased quite significantly.

In the hallway, one can find a closet that stores shoes and seasonal clothing, which is against a full-wall mirror with frontal illumination and a hanging shelf. “We could have preserved a regular wall instead of setting a radius partition, but it adds dynamics to the room,” shares the architect.

The team also enlarged the guest bathroom at the expense of the hallway. This allows the shower room to fit in. Niches over the toilet and the shower are decorated with contrasting tiles and additional lighting.

In the bathroom, the team moved the toilet away from the bathtub. The remaining sink next to it is accompanied by a graphite-colored enamel hanging drawer unit with an artificial stone countertop.
