Designing your home with small kids to consider is a bit of a challenging feat. But, it doesn’t have to be if you make your design style modern, young, fun, and kid-friendly. This young family did exactly that with the help of MN Design Studio in their 160-sqm loft, the result is a lavish eclectic condo. The owners wanted the unit to be a space that their kids can relate to, so MN Design Studio’s Mauro Nepomuceno and their junior artists Bianca Buenafe-Nepomuceno and Raizel David, made the condo bright and added pops of color and patterns. The overall look of this eclectic condo was balanced by neutral and muted hues in each space for the eyes to rest. “I wanted something fun because I have small kids. I want it to be fun for them and this is what came up. It’s modern, fun, young, eclectic,” the owner shares, a mother of three girls, sporting a pixie cut and radiating with good vibes. “I needed someone relatively young who would be receptive to ideas because I had distinct ideas on what I want,” says the owner when she was still looking for an interior designer. While Mauro admitted that the condo’s design style is far from his, his team made the entire space possible. “We took it because the client promised to make it interesting for us, and it was,” the designer shares. Mauro and his team gave each space in the loft its own style and character. From Chinoiserie to contemporary style, the lavish condo sports it all. The living room, the designer’s favored space in the entire unit, is definitely eclectic with the bold colors and strong patterns. Photos and personal artworks, especially by the kids, brightened up the space and made it more homey. Aside from the girls’ paintings, the playhouse underneath the loft’s staircase is one of the cutest features in the unit. The playhouse’s color palette continues to the children’s bedroom. The designer also maximized the girls’ space by incorporating plenty of colorful storage boxes for the kids’ toys while remaining visually pleasing. Meanwhile, the master’s bedroom is a modern take on chinoiserie. “When you come in here you know it’s a young family right away,” shares the owner. “Everyone who comes in here loves it.” This story first appeared on CondoLiving Vol. 12 No.1 2017.
