Owned by a sailor couple, this vacation home in Anilao, Batangas is their personal seaside dwelling. Having have loved the sea since the start of time, the couple wanted a Filipino vacation home that can serve as their weekend getaway near the sea. A businesswoman and a consultant, the couple spends time here to work and de-stress away from the bustle of busy Manila. The architect of this Filipino vacation home is Architect Roland Mendoza.
At 2,700- square meters, the home is a marvelous feat. The house is composed of different cabanas connected through walkways.
The best way to see the world is by water, shares the lady of the house.
The design of the Filipino vacation home is influenced by natural and traditional Filipino details: cogon roofing, wooden flooring, and local decor. “We want it simple, personal and natural,” adds the lady of this Filipino vacation home. The home is open to not only improve airflow but also the let the beautiful surroundings.
This nest by the sea is adorned with family heirloom pieces that add warmth to the entire house. “I don’t buy a lot of decor for the house, I buy one piece at a time,” she adds. What used to be the daughter’s bedroom in the vacation home is now the couple’s home office. The daughter chose purple as her accent color in her room.
The chairs in the dining area were from the owner’s old home in Manila. “I grew up with these chairs,” she smiles. The rock-finished wall at the far end has crevices for wine bottles.
The guest quarters is an open-air room with huge windows looking out into the waters of Anilao’s waters. Cogon roofing cools the room down and adds a natural feel to the whole design.
“The bedroom is my favorite room because the view if just spectacular from here,” the lady of the house shares. “I also love the wooden flooring we got from an old house in Pampanga,” she adds.
The master bath and guest bath follow the same open layout. It is extremely open and airy. This Filipino vacation home not only brings the outdoors in, it brings the entire indoors coexist with the outdoors.
