Tropical Architecture for the 21st Century Volume 1
The Tropical Architecture For The 21st Century book series by BluPrint features contemporary houses designed by Southeast Asian architects for Southeast Asian climates. These houses exemplify responses for their respective tropical climates, which have posed great challenges for architects who have strive to build for cool and comfort in the face of oppressive heat, humidity and rainfall. Tropical Architecture For The 21st Century Volume 1 is BluPrint’s second book venture and the first under its Tropical Architecture series.
The 2017 volume gathers houses designed by renowned architects such as Ed Calma, Jorge Yulo, and Dominic Galicia from the Philippines; Ong&Ong of Singapore, and WHBC Architects from Malaysia. Future volumes will attempt to showcase Philippine architecture along with the best in the ASEAN region. These annual surveys will contain sharp analysis by BluPrint’s editorial team and stunning photography by Ed Simon, One Mega Group’s head photographer, supplemented by a whole host of other photographers in Asian design circles. The reviews are generously illustrated with floor plans, elevations, and air flow diagrams in order to highlight the reasons for each project’s compatibility in their specific locales.
The book launch will coincide with BluPrint’s 18th anniversary celebration at the Globe Auditorium, Maybank Performing Arts Theater in Bonifacio Global City on 16th August 2017. The event promises to be an exciting gathering of the design industry’s top practitioners with Royal Pineda, Anna Sy, Jorge Yulo, Ed Calma, Dominic Galicia, Micaela Benedicto, and Benjamin Mendoza all giving talks.
