A residential project by Story Architecture, the Gather House, blurs the line that separates human and nature. Located in Trang Bom town, Dong Nai district in Vietnam, this unique house epitomizes a true biophilic design.

It is built for a family of five and creates a solid environment where parents and children connect with each other while strengthening their religious and environmental links. The family comes from a catholic background and the house is close to a catholic church.

Tranquility Amidst The Changing World

In an exclusive interview with BluPrint, founder Nguyen Kava shares the critical role that homes play in the world today. According to Kava, people living in big cities find joy and satisfaction through multiple social media platforms, reducing human vitality. It threatens the innate relationship with nature and God as individuals can easily get caught up with material needs, forgetting the value of spiritual connection. With this, the founder aims to develop house designs that would reconnect humans to nature and its Creator.

Every corner of the Gather House serves as an invitation to pause and reflect. From the living room and kitchen to dining and residents’ rooms, its minimalist look coupled with monochromatic colors creates a peaceful environment. The three-floor interior allows generous ventilation helping its residence embrace a tranquil surrounding.

Gather House is a playground for natural light. Sunlight passes through the atrium unobstructed, brightening up the space at daytime. Large walls on the ground floor act like a canvas painted with shadow of trees or streaks of light depending on the time of the day.

“The house needs to bring nature and people together for a better living experience. Whether the house is on a hill, a forest, or an ordinary landscape, making a conscious decision to incorporate nature would help not only its current settlers but future owners to be reminded of the bigger world outside the four corners of the house.”

Founder of Story Architecture

Architecture forms a critical part in the history of families. Building a house that would last through generations heightens the sentimental value that grows as years pass by.
