Il Sereno Adds a Glamorous Italian Design Experience to Hotel Stays
This luxury hotel experience is more than just the room. Il Sereno offers relaxation, entertainment, and inspiration, as well as the chance to shop custom Italian furniture. Finding a great hotel room can sometimes feel like a matter of luck. Sometimes, though, hotels fail to live up to the hype. This penthouse suite is easily one of the best hotel accommodations in the Lake Como area.
Breaking with tradition
The hotel is situated on the alpine landscape of Lake Como. The upscale resort area is populated mostly by traditional luxury hotels and aristocratic villas, furnished by antiques and plush décor. Il Sereno provides a breath of fresh air with its clean lines and earthy palette, inspired by architect Giuseppe Terragni’s modernist structures. The hotel’s material palette includes Venetian Terrazzo floors, Canaletto Walnut ceilings and local stone Ceppo di Gre walls. Since its opening in 2016, the hotel has attracted guests from all over the world, seeking to indulge their contemporary Italian design cravings.
A designer’s atelier to call your own (for the night)
Patricia Urquiola extends the hotel’s original theme with the new Signature Penthouse suite, “inspired by Post-war Italian glamour, La Dolce Vita, Modernist Italian Designers”, as well as local artisanal trades. Generous windows show views of Lake Como’s picture-perfect scenery, and is furnished with select pieces from modern and contemporary Italian design icons, including Gio Ponti chairs, an ‘Infinito’ bookcase by Franco Albini and Franca Helg, and Bitossi ceramics. Visitors can take home a piece of Il Sereno’s Italian glamour: key furniture pieces are available for purchase from the hotel’s e-commerce retail site.
Il Sereno proves beyond doubt that Italian elegance finds countless articulations in any era, and in any field of design.
