A modern project carrying the 2020 NYCxDesign Award’s Storage Award, BoxLife was originally pegged as a kitchen project before further discussions between the two studios transformed the idea into an adaptable micro-living space that lets its owners customize it however they need.
Described by Rainlight’s creative director Yorgo Lykouria as a smartphone, BoxLife has a modular system that hides fittings for bedroom, kitchen, office, laundry, storage, dining, and even entertaining spaces behind box-like structures in order to maximize space.
Originally a mere micro-kitchen project, BoxLife expanded into this micro-living space concept during the research and development stage.

“The idea is effectively taking a certain amount of space and transforming it to become the kitchen, to becoming an office, a bedroom, a dining room, a place where you can have a party,” explains Lykouria, highlighting the space’s adaptive abilities.
