Fritz Hansen Manila Lounge Reopens As It Celebrates The Brand’s 150th Year
Fritz Hansen Manila Lounge transforms itself as a new collaborative and creative hub for local architects, designers, and design enthusiasts, as it celebrates its 150th year of carefully crafting impressive designs and transforming mundane spaces into breathtaking havens.
Fritz Hansen Asia’s CEO, Dario Reicherl believes that simplicity is the highest form of beauty, which is reflective of his ingenious concept of the “Fritz Hansen Lounge” and “House of Fritz Hansen”, challenging the industry norm where the idea of a store is taken away and the client becomes a guest, and where Each lounge and house has its own personality and reflects the heritage of the country integrating Danish Design.
Founded in Denmark in 1872, Fritz Hansen is known for pushing the boundaries of furniture design, with its sophisticated approach in using unique fabrics, colors, and materials. Fritz Hansen paved the way for a vast array of timeless classics through collaborations with visionaries Arne Jacobsen, Poul Kjærholm, and Hans J. Wegner, who revolutionized modern furniture design. From its poignant beginnings, the brand has maintained its strong position as a purveyor of the Nordic design’s artistry worldwide—an apt homage to the rich Nordic history and culture.
Whimsical Notions and Rich Swathes of Color
As part of Fritz Hansen’s extensive anniversary festivities, Studio Dimensione, the official distributor of the brand in the Philippines, is opening the newly renovated Fritz Hansen Manila lounge with an awe-inspiring interior composition designed by Spanish Artist-designer Jaime Hayón.
Hayon’s playful and unorthodox design, combined with his creative imagination in an eclectic sort of environment paved the way for the bold-yet whimsical pieces in the Fritz Hansen Manila Lounge without compromising the fundamental structure of various artistic elements.
Boasting a hefty art and design résumé, Hayón has worked on various product categories—including furniture pieces, shoes, wardrobe accessories, and interior spaces for hotels and showrooms. These collections put Jaime at the forefront of a new wave that blurred the lines between art, decoration, and design, adding a renaissance touch in finely-crafted, intricate objects within the context of contemporary design. His passion and visionary works made him among TIME Magazine’s 100 most relevant creators of our time.
In his video bio for Fritz Hansen, Hayón mentioned that good design is something that has meaning and provokes emotions. Hence, the brand’s discerning Filipino patrons and design professionals can draw evocative inspiration from their experience when they visit the Fritz Hansen Manila lounge.
Throughout its formidable presence, Fritz Hansen continues to bend wood, curve steel, break new ground, and faithfully push the boundaries of furniture design. It pursues to forge premium, lasting pieces through joint efforts with some of the world’s eminent contemporary designers, including Cecilie Manz and Kasper Salto.
