The lady of the house in this home preferred neutrals, and wanted a comfortable yet plush hotel ambiance for their townhouse in a quiet residential enclave in Quezon City. She and her husband sought interior designer Jeizele Go to create the gold house of their dreams. “There’s a thin line between neutral and boring, so aside from a couple of color punches, I mixed in natural materials to create not only a clean and sophisticated look, but also to give a certain warmth to make it a home for the family,” shares the interior designer on this gold house.
Upon entry, a double-height living area replete with plush textures, clean lines and a refined color scheme greets guests. An arresting lighting fixture drips down from the recessed ceiling, drawing the eyes downward to a setting composed of furnishings and accessories in varying shades of cream, beige and gold. A circular rug grounds the space, the visual of the gold home is broken by a dark grand piano situated in a corner. This is the gold house’s main feature, and it’s a knock out with its metallic schemes. A lavish chandelier and plush circular rug serve to center off-white seating and a coffee table encrusted with mother-of- pearl in the high ceiling living area.
The dining area of the gold house overlooks the living room through a glass ledge. The metallic brown chairs accentuate the dining room. The family often hosts parties for friends and loved ones. The lady of the house cooks and their son plays the piano for entertainment.
The wife takes pride in her cooking, and considers the kitchen to be her headquarters in the home. The same mother-of- pearl treatment on the coffee table in the living area is applied on the kitchen island, making it stand out against light- colored walls and neutral cabinetry.
Refined tones of taupe and brown feature prominently to impart ageless appeal in the boys’ bedroom. Occupying half of the topmost floor, the walk-in closet is functional, air-conditioned and properly lit. By providing enough space to accommodate the couple’s things, clutter is avoided in the bedrooms.
Taking its cue from well-appointed hotel interiors, the gold house’s master bedroom showcases a padded headboard flanked by intricate wood carvings.
The gold house also has a temporary entertainment room until possible plans push through for the eldest to move into his own space. The husband’s collection of Lego and Star Wars memorabilia is displayed in a corner of the entertainment room.
