Thailand-based D Compose Architect designed a modern luxury home that translates minimalist forms into a refined and functional assembly. The PB House utilizes a unique play of spatial relationships framed by the use of light tones, creating a sense of purity that favors the structure’s linear appearance.

Extrusions That Form Character

Overview of PB House.

The PB House follows minimalist and modern design principles through its mass and surface. Bold lines, solid exteriors, and spacious interiors establish a clear visual hierarchy. Its extrusions, placed based on the surrounding environment and the building’s orientation, shows a balance between boldness and restraint. The varying depths of these extrusions create a dynamic visual character, allowing light and shadow to dance across the building’s planes.

The architect harmonized the structure and architecture by arranging the proportions of various elements. This approach assures beauty in every dimension. Functionality is evident in the use of overlapping forms and strategically angled walls to create shade and enhance the building’s performance.

Interwoven open spaces throughout the structure invite sunlight and natural ventilation.  An indoor courtyard with a pool creates a wide separation within the home. An enclosure of glass, by the center of the common area, gives a number of spaces an opportunity to have nature closer by. The upper floor protrudes above the pool, acting as an awning to shade the porch and mitigate heat gain.

Embodying Modern Elegance

PB House’s design language eloquently reflects the resident’s lifestyle. As such, the structure displays an ambience of splendor that is accompanied by functionalities that support their activities. A display of hospitality and the possibilities for recreation is apparent in the programming of spaces.

A particular liking for water amenities is apparent as a major focal point throughout the design. A central koi pond sits along both its entrance and the central hall. A floating wall partitions the pond between these two spaces, giving the illusion that they are seperate. The swimming pool cuts right through the structure as it makes itself a centerpiece along an outdoor visual hallway. Its depth is further specified  to make it safe for the owner’s children to use

The Importance of Creating Space

The PB House exemplifies the potential for creating a rich visual experience within a minimalist framework. Its layout contributes to a sense of openness, as internal and external views allows for a deeper appreciation of the architectural details and the surrounding landscape.
