Nazareno/Lichauco’s latest exhibit at JJ Acuña / Bespoke Studio in Comuna, Makati City offers an extraordinary blend of artistry and design innovation. Nazareno/Lichauco: A Dynamic Design Duo

Rita Nazareno and Gabby Lichauco are a powerful pair in the Philippine design scene. They are known for their collaborative brand, Nazareno/Lichauco. Nazareno, a multi-disciplinary designer with a background in media and production design, brings a distinct narrative-driven approach to her work. Her keen eye for detail and storytelling is evident in every piece she co-creates. Meanwhile, Lichauco is an industrial designer whose expertise lies in crafting functional objects with a contemporary edge. His experience spans various design disciplines, from furniture and lighting to spatial design, making him a versatile and innovative creator.

The exhibit showcases pieces previously featured at Singapore Design Week’s “Emerge,” curated by Suzy Annetta. Notable works on display include the Pipe Series, which consists of a Pipe Bench and a Floor Lamp. The hand-woven pieces in black distressed chair cane, showcase the duo’s skill in combining traditional materials with contemporary design sensibilities. Another standout piece is the Monolith Bench, a striking creation that exudes both strength and elegance. The Hide and Seek Table also draws attention with its intriguing design that invites exploration.

In addition to these highlights, the exhibit showcases a variety of other works by Nazareno/Lichauco. The locally produced pieces employ a range of techniques and materials that demonstrate the duo’s commitment to Philippine craftsmanship. The use of bone china and marquetry, among other materials, adds a layer of sophistication and depth to their creations.

A special highlight of the exhibit is the collaboration with Tracy Anglo Dizon, which brings a fresh perspective and unique touch to the collection. These collaborative pieces stand as a testament to the creative synergy between the artists, offering a glimpse into the possibilities of cross-disciplinary design.
