Dale Chihuly: Glass In Bloom exhibition offers an embraced visual tension to the verdure of the iconic Gardens by the Bay.
Dale Chihuly
One of Seattle’s famous contemporary artists, Dale Chihuly, takes his creations halfway across the world for a first-of-its-kind exhibit in Asia. Chihuly has been known for his big ideas—challenging the limits of the glass design. Known for his love of taking on a challenge, he was able to develop an extraordinarily artistic approach and innovative techniques in accomplishing his vision. Over the years of working on his craft, he has exhibited bravery in experimentation, one that is without fear of failure, all while remaining true to his creative process.
Fragile Fantasies
The viewing of the Glass in Bloom Exhibition is a fantasy-like experience, to say the least. Every aspect of Chihuly’s design was intricate down to the very small details—colors, shapes, positioning, and harmony with the surrounding environment. The pop of colors will catch your attention, but in a way that will not disturb a serene and moving experience as you go deeper into the exhibit. It’s an extravagant masterpiece—a visual and emotional festivity and also something that will keep you looking forward to more.
About the Event
Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Culture Alvin Tan was the opening event’s guest of honor. The exhibition takes visitors across the expanse of venue’s various landscapes, including the vast greenery of its Outdoor Gardens and the cooled environment of its Conservatories. Organized by Hustle & Bustle, supported by the Singapore Tourism Board, venue partner Gardens by the Bay, automotive sponsor Porsche, and presented by title sponsors Bank of Singapore and OCBC Premier Private Client, this event is the first exhibition of its scale to be hosted at Gardens by the Bay.
Beyond the Gardens, the public can catch a glimpse of the artist’s works, which were especially shipped over to Singapore, at the outdoor spaces of The Fullerton Bay Hotel. The Paintbrush Tower is prominently displayed on the lawn outside The Fullerton Bay Hotel, against the Marina Bay skyline. The name was inspired by the Indian Paintbrush flower after the form was first blown and Chihuly noticed a resemblance.
