As of 15 April 2020, 4PM, the number of confirmed cases in the country tallied at 5,453, whereas 3,253 are currently admitted in different hospitals and 1,498 are still for validation. The number of deceased patients tallied at 349, while the recovered patients totaled 353. A total of 3,191 hospital beds are dedicated to COVID-19 patients in different hospitals in the country, as of 12 April 2020, according to the Department of Health (DOH) COVID-19 Tracker. Another 12,413 beds are in identified community isolation facilities across the country, including over 100 regional evacuation centers (ECs) converted into COVID-19 evacuation centers by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
The DPWH identified 125 regional ECs to convert and help mitigate the ongoing novel coronavirus pandemic in the Philippines. 110 regional ECs are dedicated to accommodate an estimated 4,620 patients from Regions 1 to 13, CAR, and NCR. The rest of its regional ECs are utilized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development as food hubs and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office as emergency operations centers. No evacuation center within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is listed in the file that BluPrint received from DPWH; however, we included BARMM in this three-part series for the public to see where the hospitals and laboratories that applied for DOH accreditation as COVID-19 testing centers are.
