Keeping hope afloat: One Mega Group thanks #RisePH donors
Images depicting submerged homes, neighborhoods, and barangays circulated all over the internet during the onslaught of Typhoon Ulysses. It was recorded that the typhoon affected a total of 1262 barangays and 1006 of these experienced flooding. News reports and social media photos have shown how various cities and areas were submerged in water, with only the roofs of the residences left visible. The devastation it brought drove many companies, groups, and individual citizens to organize donation drives and relief efforts for the 8000 Filipino families who lost their homes due to flood water. One Mega Group answered the call to help through #RisePH, a relief effort that aims to provide care packages for typhoon victims. The company called for support last 13 November 2020, accepting both cash and in-kind donations. More than a week after, #RisePH was able to raise a total of P 116, 611.84.
The total cash and in-kind #RisePH collection amounted to 500 relief packages. Each contained 3 kilos of rice, 6 packs of instant noodles, 2 cans of tuna, 3 cans of sardines, 1 bottled water, 5 face masks, and 5 sachets of coffee. One Mega Group collaborated with Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto’s Pasig Rescue Emergency Disaster Center to distribute the care packages to 500 families residing in affected barangays within the city, such as Maybunga and Santolan.
The company extends its sincere gratitude to these 17 #RisePH donors and to the 11 donors who chose to remain anonymous:
