For Filipinos, the holidays signify a time of connection, love, and warmth—all brought together by family and friends. Each year, the most-anticipated charity bazaar in the Philippines captures the hearts of Filipinos as they take pride in their tradition of giving. Established in 2001, the World Bazaar Festival (WBF) marks its silver anniversary this year. As the longest-running Christmas charity event in the country, it transforms shopping into a chance for people to come together and give back to their communities.

A Filipino Holiday
The World Bazaar Festival was inaugurated through a festive opening ceremony attended by VIP’s and guests. The Founding Chairman of Worldbex Services International provided the opening remarks, expressing his heartfelt gratitude towards the guests. Each year, the Festival has become a place that welcomes local and global entrepreneurs, creative artisans, fisherfolk, and farmers. Inside, Christmas is truly made special.
Pasay City Mayor Hon. Imelda “Emi” Calixto Rubiano also shared her appreciation for both her constituents and the charity event. “By partnering with our charitable institutions, such as the ABS-CBN Foundation, our honest and adequate service is effectively translated into heartfelt actions… If the World Festival Bazaar is here, everyone knows and feels the joy, energy, color, and love that Christmas brings,” states Mayor Rubiano.

Other notable speakers include the Secretaries of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). They all emphasized the importance of supporting local and global businesses and craftsmanship as the Festival upholds its mission of “Shop and Share.”’ In this charity event, Filipinos showcase how generosity is ingrained in the way we celebrate the Christmas season.

Frequently Asked Questions
The “Shop and Share” mission is the operational framework of the World Bazaar Festival. It technically integrates commercial retail with social responsibility by partnering with charitable institutions like the ABS-CBN Foundation. A portion of the festival’s proceeds is funneled into community-building projects, effectively turning a mass-market retail event into a large-scale fundraising vehicle for social impact and humanitarian aid.
The WBF serves as a vital incubator for local and global entrepreneurs, artisans, fisherfolk, and farmers. By providing a high-traffic platform at the World Trade Center, it gives micro-entities—such as weavers from the MIMAROPA region or niche brands like Disenyo ni Juana—access to a massive consumer base. This “Bazaar Economy” model helps stimulate the local creative industry and promotes the preservation of traditional Filipino handicrafts through direct-to-consumer sales.
The involvement of the Department of Tourism (DOT), Department of Agriculture (DA), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) signifies the festival’s role as a driver of national economic and cultural promotion. The DTI assists in quality control and business development for vendors, the DA supports the participation of local farmers, and the DOT promotes the event as a key seasonal attraction, reinforcing the Philippines’ identity as a premier destination for holiday festivities.
Since its inauguration in 2001, the WBF has evolved from a simple bazaar into a massive, 10-day logistics operation spanning the entire World Trade Center Metro Manila. Technically, this involves managing a diverse “booth ecosystem” that ranges from high-end kitchen appliance brands like DēLonghi to regional agricultural cooperatives. The festival operates on a strict 12-hour cycle (10:00 AM to 10:00 PM), requiring sophisticated crowd management and security protocols to accommodate the seasonal influx of holiday shoppers.
Beyond its economic impact, the WBF is a cultural landmark because it institutionalizes the Filipino tradition of giving. As noted by Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto Rubiano, the event translates “service into heartfelt actions.” It acts as a physical gathering point where the “joy, energy, and love” of Christmas are manifested through the act of choosing gifts that directly benefit the less fortunate, creating a shared communal experience of mindfulness and generosity.
