Sleek Splendour: A Luxurious Two-Bedroom Apartment for Modern Newlyweds
Box Design Studio’s Krystal Saw, Lucas Fong, and Justin Low reimagined modern condominium living. The designers are committed to constructing spaces that fit the needs and lifestyles of their residents. Their client, a newlywed couple residing in the condominium at Mont Kiara 28, envisioned their two bedroom apartment as organized and neat, driven by a desire for simplicity.
The designers utilized the concept “SleekLuxe,” which they define as “sleek, with bold accent colors.” This concept is seen in the symbiotic relationship between the neutral and the bold elements of the home.

As we enter the home, we are immediately separated from the array of colors and noises of the outside world. The foyer, with its neutral walls and warm lighting, summons a state of calm for its residents. The textured white painting and marble lining on the walls act as a simple yet intentional design element that hints at what is to come.
Movement through Curves

The designers aimed to “integrate clean yet soft forms.” They achieved this through the incorporation of curvy elements throughout the home, creating both softness and comfort. The feature wall in the foyer, built as an entrance statement, acts as a subtle division between the living room and dining area.
Curved elements guide one’s attention towards certain rooms, allowing harmonious transitions that add “both flow and dynamism.”
This element pervades the furniture seen in both the dining area and the living room. Both the dining and living rooms have ceilings that create movement through their curves, bordering the spaces from above.
Modern Luxury for Two

Intentional in its design as a modern luxury home for two, the condominium utilized neutral tones to evoke simplicity and a clean look. In the dining area, the rounded neutral table is paired with chairs with rounded backrests. Above the table, the hanging lights also have a curved shape.
Transitioning towards the living room, the curved edges of the shelves bring about a form of softness to their dark wooden finish, echoed by the coffee table. The accent wall, made of wood with a black finish and a complementary black-and-white marble wall that holds the T.V. screen, immediately draws your attention.
The wall stands out amongst the minimal theme of the furniture. The seating arrangements, which include a sofa and an armchair, surround the table at the center of the room. The accent rug contrasts the beige marble floors. Consequently, the rug ties together the neutral and dark colors present in the room.

The black-and-white theme continues as you move towards the master bedroom. The curved grey walls flow into a wooden black headboard that has a backlight that provides a pop of warmth to the space. The grey side tables on both sides of the bed further emphasize the neutral and minimal look of the home.
One of the requirements of the clients was that they needed plenty of storage space. In a home defined by its minimal approach, this served as a challenge for the designers. However, as we move to the master bathroom, we can see how the designers maximized the space within the context of simplicity. A floating marble countertop paired with open shelving and cabinetry offers ample space for organizing bathroom essentials, while the cantilevered double vanity adds even more storage.
Bronze as a Bold Accent

Amongst the neutral tones of the home, bronze elements are intentionally placed as bold accents. In the dry kitchen, the black-and-white marble countertop is juxtaposed with the bronze finish of the kitchen cabinetry, faucet, and soap dish. Modern lighting fixtures were also added as a bold way to light up a space full of dark neutral tones.
The kitchen cabinets below the countertop were also lined with a bronze finish. The cabinets serve a dual purpose of aesthetics and practicality. Keeping up with the client’s requirement of having a “well-kempt living environment,” the items that would otherwise be placed on the countertop are stored within the cabinets.

Transitioning from the kitchen to the dining area, we can see how this accent is utilized even in small details like the bottom portion of the legs of the chair. The designers were not afraid to mix different colored metals, as the hanging lights were silver accented with bronze.
Bronze as a bold accent continues to the second bathroom, where the white cabinets are complemented by an extended bronze countertop and faucet. These details provide a contrasting edge to the otherwise neat and simple look of the home.

Box Design Studio’s design for this luxurious two bedroom apartment blends simplicity and subtle luxury, with its interplay of neutral tones, bold accents, and soft elements that create a home that is both calming and captivating. Through thoughtful design, the designers crafted an organized and neat environment that elevates modern condominium living to a new standard of refined comfort that meets the desires and needs of their clients.
